Ensuring the Health and Safety of Young Students: Vaccination Collaboration at SDHLV
In August and September 2024, a vital series of vaccinations took place in collaboration with Puskesmas Jalan Kutai, focusing on the health of our youngest learners. The polio vaccine was administered to grade 1 students and some kindergarteners in August, while the measles-rubella (MR) and human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines were provided in September for grade 1 and grade 5 students.
Polio Vaccine
The polio vaccine is crucial for preventing poliomyelitis, a disease that can lead to irreversible paralysis. By vaccinating students, we are ensuring that our children are protected from this serious illness. High vaccination rates also contribute to community immunity, safeguarding those who cannot receive the vaccine.
Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccine
The MR vaccine protects against measles and rubella, both of which pose significant health risks. Measles can lead to severe complications such as pneumonia, while rubella can cause serious birth defects if contracted during pregnancy. By vaccinating grade 1 students, we are working to eliminate these diseases and enhance community health.
HPV Vaccine
The HPV vaccine is essential for preventing human papillomavirus infections, which can lead to various cancers, including cervical cancer. By administering the HPV vaccine to grade 5 students, we provide them with critical protection and promote awareness of sexual health as they transition into adolescence.
These vaccination efforts, made possible through our partnership with Puskesmas Jalan Kutai, represent a significant step in safeguarding our children's health. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Puskesmas for their support and dedication.
Let’s continue to prioritize the health of our children—vaccination is a key part of ensuring a healthier future for all!
